Georgia Tech picks up first win over the University of Buffalo

Box Score

Feb. 18, 2006

After suffering a second half breakdown earlier in the day resulting in a 6-6 tie against the University of Missouri, the Yellow Jackets were ready to come out strong against perennial Women's Central Lacrosse League power University of Buffalo Bulls. However, the Bulls had other plans, as they struck out to a 4-2 lead to end the first half.

Tech finally settles down for the second half and begins to show life, slowly cutting into Buffalo's lead.  At the end of regulation, the score was knotted 7-7.  Not wanting to end another game as a tie, the teams agreed to an overtime period.  Neither team was able to put the ball on cage during the 5 minute period until the last 10 seconds, when Katie Meyer snuck a bounce shot underneath Buffalo's goalie.  The Yellow Jackets were able to kill the remaining 10 seconds to seal the overtime victory.
