Jackets Finish Season with Trip to Virginia

Apr. 9, 2008

The Yellow Jackets finished their successful season at UVA's Lax on the Lawn Tournament featuring some of the top club teams in the area.  The action started saturday morning against a very strong Villanova club.  While the Jackets played well, they were unable to keep up with the very fast Wildcats.  The weekend continued with a very exciting game against William & Mary.  The game was close throughout, but the Yellow Jackets were trailing 10-8 with just over 5 minutes remaining before ending the game with 3 unanswered goals to seal the win.

The tournament continued on Sunday with the Jackets facing host team UVA.  The Cavaliers went up 2-0 in the first two minutes, but the next forty eight minutes were evenly matched.  The defense held up strong, going long stretches of times without allowing a goal.  In the final contest Tech faced Georgetown.  The game was evenly matched in the first half, but the Jackets fell off the pace in the second half, as they were exhausted from the action-packed weekend.

Overall the Tech squad was very proud of their performance.  Playing teams from another area was a great experience, especially for the younger players, and is something that the team can build upon for next season.
