Tech Earns Bid to SWLL Championship

Apr. 20, 2008

In a last minute decision, Tech was awarded the 8th seed and a berth into the SWLL Championship on Saturday April 19. This set up a quaterfinal matchup with top seed Florida. With very few subs Tech was unable to keep up with the furious pace set by Florida, losing the game 23-1. Even so, it was a great experience for the team, especially the underclassmen who had never gotten the opportunity to compete in the SWLL Championship Tournament before. In addition to the team being honored with the 8th seed in the tournament, senior captain Katie Flinn was awarded all-SWLL honors for the third consecutive season. The team offically concluded the year with their end of the season party Sunday April 20. It was a great chance for all the girls to get together one more time before the summer and say goodbye to the graduating seniors. Coaches Max Agee and June Park distributed team awards to several players for their performance throughout the season. Katie Flinn was awarded offensive MVP, Katie Buckler was awarded defensive MVP and Christina Wilson was awarded team MVP. Also honored were Lauren Baugh for Most Improved Player, Georgina Schaefer for Rookie of the Year and Crystian Merrill for Unsung Hero.
